Change You Can’t Trust

[Guest post by DRJ]

Gateway Pundit says the Obama-sponsored Fight the Smears website is altering its page on Barack Obama’s ties to ACORN after it was revealed they had not been telling the truth about Obama’s extensive ties to that organization.

Maybe they should rename it Erase the Smears.

  2. :sighs: will someone kindly erase the near-dup, which I thought was dumped as a spam, and this, too? Thanks!

  3. No problem about the double post but let’s leave your follow-up and my comment up. I don’t want it to look like comments are censored.

  4. Obama’s “fight the smears” web page is just a bunch of lawyerly denials, designed to obfuscate rather than enlighten.

Why doesn’t Senator Obama just come forward and explain his ties to ACORN? Why doesn’t he just list all of the things he’s done for them and done with them over the past 20 years?

  5. I saw that your deletion and my request had crossed in the bitstream; these things happen and I’m not at all offended.

I suspect that he doesn’t explain because he knows that whatever he says will just make things look worse to some who are in the middle. Too big a risk. It’s like trying to explain your perfectly reasonable actions to a cop.

He’s not a terrorist. He’s not a patriot. He’s something in the middle. Oliver Stone will make a damn good movie out of it.

    Amen.
Axelrod does the same thing when he talks. There’s no “evidence” Obama and Ayres were close, he says. They used to have news stories posted about how Ayres and Obama met at the coffee. There was no other ‘evidence’.
The campaign feeds the press stories, then points to those stories as vindication. Then edits their story when they are busted. Very slimy.

Watched Axelrod and Davis today on FNS.
Sort of made me long for a Hamilton-Burr debate resolution (at least it would have some finality).

  12. If anyone would like to move to the point of actually doing something, go to a BHO appearance, read the before and after versions from his site, and ask BHO to explain the difference. Get his response on video and upload it to Youtube.

  13. The ACORN spokeslimebucket is as bad as Axelrod. Lies directly to the camera, but then again, they’ve both had a lot of practice.

  14. The anti-Obama propaganda gets nuttier and nuttier. And more and more pathetic. God I hope you guys lose this election, you deserve to think about how ashamed you should be of yourselves for a while.

ACORN is now being called “voter fraud specialists.” My God, how shitty can you guys get? That’s like calling Republicans “child pregnancy specialists” — because, after all, they worship a woman whose child is pregnant.

Yes, a lot of the mass media is biased for the Democrats. But not in this sick, twisted, racially-charged way. It’s going to be really hard for me to see you all as rational people again for a long time, no matter who wins this election.

All I can do is pray the swing voters aren’t the racist nut-jobs you guys obviously think they are.

    Phil (3b1633)

  15. God I hope you guys lose this election, you deserve to think about how ashamed you should be of yourselves for a while.

So telling the truth about Obama and his colleagues is “sick,” “twisted” and “racially-charged?”

Give it up before you look any more like an idiot, Phil…yet again.

    Paul (4861df)

  16. So telling the truth about Obama and his colleagues is “sick,” “twisted” and “racially-charged?”

There’s no truth whatsoever in the ACORN meme. It’s just another way to blame the entire financial crisis on blacks. That’s basically the Republican platform right now — blacks caused the financial crisis, don’t make one president. Oh, and also, he “pals around with terrorists.” No substance just paranoid, racist fear.

    Phil (3b1633)

  17. I’m afraid of Bill Ayers and he’s white. Where’s the racism in that?

    DRJ (c953ab)

  18. Phil will continue this line well after members, and leaders, of various ACORN chapters are sentenced to hard-time for their nefarious activities this election cycle, just as they have been prosecuted, and imprisoned for illegalities in previous cycles.
Phil will become a noted tourist attraction on Egyptian tours.

    Another Drew (912e22)

  19. Phil will continue this line well after members, and leaders, of various ACORN chapters are sentenced to hard-time for their nefarious activities this election cycle.

OK, show me some “nefarious” behavior by acorn “members and leaders.” What I’ve seen is that they’ve hired some lazy people who have faked voter registration forms because they were to lazy to get real registrations. In other words, ACORN has been ripped off by these people.

If there’s actual misconduct on the part of ACORN, that’s not what I’m seeing. What I’m seeing is sleight-of-hand pretending there’s some conspiracy on the part of ACORN, when really ACORN’s the only loser (after all, if fewer real voters are registered, ACORN loses).

    Phil (3b1633)

  20. ACORN is now being called “voter fraud specialists.”

Voter registration fraud specialists is more accurate.

Phil – How is it racially charged to note that ACORN, a group that Barack has long and deep connections to, stands accused of fraudulent voter registation in at least 14 states, to date?

But not in this sick, twisted, racially-charged way

Don’t forget that we like to kill, jail, torture and oppress minorities.

You make the above assertion, sans any evidence, sans substantiation. In short, you lie.

    JD (f7900a)

  21. Phil,

When it happens over and over again, do you blame the employees or do you blame the employer that trains them?

    DRJ (c953ab)

  22. I’m afraid of Bill Ayers and he’s white. Where’s the racism in that?

Boy, I’d love to see an actual picture of Bill Ayers paraded as often as we see the black ACORN “community activist” being being paraded all “booga booga” by Republicans.

But showing photos of him conflicts with the “Obama is an Arab terrorist” meme, so he’s rarely shown. He’s just spoken of, in hushed tones, as the “terrorist” who “pals around” with “Barack Hussein Obama.”

    Phil (3b1633)

  23. Phil – How is it racially charged to note that ACORN, a group that Barack has long and deep connections to, stands accused of fraudulent voter registation in at least 14 states, to date?

Gee, I wonder . . . by the way, other than being the victim of people who aren’t ACORN members, who have been faking registration forms (which actually defeats the purpose of ACORN) what fraud are they accused of?

    Phil (3b1633)

  24. When it happens over and over again, do you blame the employees or do you blame the employer that trains them?

That’s your damn answer? Tell me, what’s the fraud? Who’s going to actually vote as any of those fake registrations? Nobody. It hurts ACORN.

This is a Republican ploy to distract, rather than actually try to say what they’re going to do for the country — just scare the country about the crazy black people trying to steal the election.

I can make a great argument for electing a conservative president. I’d love to see Republicans make that argument. Unfortunately, they aren’t trying to elect a conservative president. They’re just trying to scare America into voting for McCain.

    Phil (3b1633)

  25. It’s just another way to blame the entire financial crisis on blacks.

Oh stop it, Phil. You look ridiculous. Nobody here cares what color the following are: Obama, the culprits behind the financial meltdown, the biggest money grabbers at Fannie or Freddie, or AIG or any other Wall Street player, ACORN directors, members, made-up voters, fraudulent profiles of voters, or God Himself. We don’t care. And when people like you continue to make it the perennial excuse/pre-emptive strike/get out of jail free card/coup de grace/and the world’s biggest escape route, it only goes to prove the point that there are none as racist and bigoted and discriminatory than those who loathe the right. Its not based on any evidence, anything concrete, anything substantial, anything rational. Just your own small mindedness. Enough.

    Dana (658c17)

  26. Phil believes that the leaders of ACORN are trusting, kind-hearted, philanthropists looking to enlighted a segment of society that has been oppressed by the capitalist running-dog fascist thugs enslaving the gentle people of the world. It is only the shortcomings of the people they are trying to help, due to a paternalistic, oppressive, oligarchy that denies them true educational advancement, that ACORN encounters the difficulties that they are currently facing.

  27. Phil – I personally like the picture of Bill Ayers standing on the American flag.

Gee, I wonder . . . by the way, other than being the victim of people who aren’t ACORN members, who have been faking registration forms (which actually defeats the purpose of ACORN) what fraud are they accused of?

This was pretty inchoherent, even for you, Phil.

  28. There’s no truth whatsoever in the ACORN meme.

Phil, you’ve been warned yet again not to look more like an idiot.

Now you force me to prove my assertion since you refuse to follow my advice.

So, according to you, this and this and this and this and this and this and this are of “no substance just paranoid, racist fear.”

So, how do you explain the cover-ups of the the extensive ties of Obama to ACORN by the Obama Campaign if there’s “no truth whatsoever” in it?

    Paul (4861df)

  29. Phil,

Posting photos about Bill Ayers would be fine with me, but it should also include his mug shot as well as this photo of San Francisco Police Sgt Brian V McDonnell who was killed by a Weather Underground bomb.

  30. DRJ: When it happens over and over again, do you blame the employees or do you blame the employer that trains them?

    DRJ (c953ab)

  31. Boy, I’d love to see an actual picture of Bill Ayers paraded as often as we see the black ACORN “community activist” being being paraded all “booga booga” by Republicans.

Here’s the original 2001 article from Chicago Magazine with a picture showing Ayers standing on an American flag: No Regrets.

A murder investigation that has been reopened by the SFPD due to new evidence that strongly suggests that the bomb is linked to one B.Dohrn, who was staying/hiding out in Sausalito at the time of the Sgt’s death.

    Another Drew (912e22)

  33. But showing photos of him conflicts with the “Obama is an Arab terrorist” meme, so he’s rarely shown.

Well..I beg to differ, Phil, on two counts; one picture of Bill Ayers gets quite a bit of play in the media and I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen it. You know which photo I mean, right?

Also, “Obama is an Arab terrorist?” Um, huh?

I don’t hear that coming from conservatives, only coming from liberals misquoting conservatives. What I do hear is “Obama pals around with domestic terrorists.” And this is of course true – oh, I’m sorry, was true until Bill Ayers became politically inconvenient to claim as an associate and helper to his career.

    no one you know (1ebbb1)

  34. “Obama is an Arab terrorist” meme

Phil – The only place I’ve seen this is in your comments. Unless you produce some credible outside links I am forced to believe this meme is a strawman of your own creation.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  35. I am forced to believe this meme is a strawman of your own creation.

You should not have to be forced to believe it. It requires no coersion to arrive at the reasonable conclusion that Phil is pulling that directly from his sphincter.

    JD (f7900a)

  36. Phil – ACORN makes enough that the brother of its founder could embezzle about $1 million undetected for a period of time. Money is often a prime motivator of these social justice types. Wade Rathke also controls a chapter of the SEIU. I wonder how much money he sucks out of that? ACORN refuses to let its own employees form a union. Look at Morris Dees and the SPLC and the war chest they’ve built up over the years. Talph Nader has also done pretty well for himself although he goes to great pains to hide it. Noam Chomsky is a big stock market investor. It’s all about hypocrisy for these libs.

Phil – Why don’t you support the preserving the integrity of American election process. Assuring valid voter registrations and valid votes should be a no brainer for both political parties, yet we have morons like yourself shouting racism with no evidence in the face of clear and repeated fraud. Democrats standing on the sidelines make themselves look like complete stooges of ACORN, a monster they have aided and abetted over the years, by not joining in the calls for investigations to preserve fair elections. The idea that invalid registrations cannot lead to invalid votes is ludicrous on its face and a smokescreen used by brain damaged liberals.

  40. Assuring valid voter registrations and valid votes should be a no brainer for both political parties, yet we have morons like yourself shouting racism with no evidence in the face of clear and repeated fraud.

Daleyrocks: I find such shouting hilarious considering the Left’s reaction over both Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004.

  41. Phil…

    Your ACORN premise needs defense.

You wouldn’t just abandon it while it receives a terrific beatdown, would you?

    Phiiiiiiiiiiiiiilllllllll?

I didn’t see it, but I saw an excerpt.
Here’s what concerns me: when Axelrod says he’s just asking a question, it means he’s got your unsealed divorce (or whatever) records at his disposal that he’s going to release to the media in a few weeks. That’s what happened with Hull. Axelrod “just asked the question” whether Hull abused his wife. A little while later…pow!
    Watch out, Rick Davis.
