  1. Are you guys freakin’ nuts? All I’m hearing from the conservative blogosphere is subdued mild gloom. McCain didn’t drool on himself, but he didn’t score any knockout punches. And I say again, are you nuts?

I’ve made a couple of videos out of the Biden-Palin debate, which I kind of wish somebody with access to eyeballs might find worthy of sharing with his readers… I can make more but they just haven’t been getting the attention to make them worth the time. But that’s beside the point… the point is I can’t wait to get a hold of this one, because McCain looked great and Obama looked bad and I can’t wait to highlight it.

Paul at Powerline thinks Obama looked bad because he was “jittery.” No! He was energetic! Ponder! The man is seventy-two years old! He’s been through a lot! He’s spent the last several weeks vigorously campaigning! He was under hot lights and enormous pressure! My God, I don’t think that I could make it through that without being sweaty and exhausted. He was animated, firm, decisive, he reminded me of Reagan! He made me think that we as Republicans were fantastically lucky in a way that we could not have deserved to have John McCain carrying our standard.

Fun video moments: McCain shakes hands with retired Navy man, and shares a truly touching, intimate moment with him. You can almost see the wheels turning in Obama’s head: “Do I shake his hand too? What if he turns away or looks cold? What will my left wing base think if I shake his hand?” He takes a few strides towards the vet, then stutters, half-steps, and stops. It’s enormously entertaining.

And there was a part… I can’t remember the exact context but I can’t wait to look for it as soon as the video is available… when Obama slipped up and said “you” rather than “us”… as in the government is going to provide something that “you” need. Unconsciously excluding himself by using the second person rather than the first, exposing his elitist streak.

This was a great debate for McCain. Bush has been a disappointment. I supported him on some things, opposed him on many others. I’m sure it’ll be the same in a McCain administration. But I looked at John McCain exhorting America to greatness tonight and I said, this is a President America can be proud of.

  2. Actually McCain lost, not on points or substance, he held his own just fine, but because it was boring and if anything Barack appealled to undecided voters more (not much but that is all it takes for a blow out now). Totally missed opportunity to unleash on Barack Obama and change the dynamic.

  3. Obama won. “That One”, he won. Except of course on blogs like this.

  4. All these news stations and analysts are full of it. John McCain won the debate. There is an unreasonable/unrealistic amount of enthusiasm for Obama. This is very strange. The media appears overly favorable of Obama. Unfortunately this is/will impact what is one of the most significant election in U.S. history. Also, there must be an awful lot of people out their that are willing to make a very serious gamble on a “TV” personality appeal, very little experience and the concept of “change”. McCain is a better candidate.

  5. What is with the additional tax break that McCain is proposing for each child? When we are entering into an era where the baby boomers will be collecting SS, are possibly loosing their homes, and the number one cause of Bankruptcy is due to health care bills; is this not encouraging youn, poor females to breed just because they get paid to do so??? Help me on this one. I am independent and still not decided but this comment really threw me back and made me ask just what is the man thinking??

  6. On this very night ,it was Obamas night,he nailed Mccain on the issue at hand the economy, but i will like to add that had Bush & Mccain, not invaded iraq, think about how many billions of dollars that should have been saved,20 billion a month, multiply by 60 months, that is a lot of money.on hte health, how come mccain dont want universal health care for every body paid by the federal government, when his on health care is been paid by the federal governmet, what is good for him should also be good for us.

Because it is not a Right.

  9. I turned the debate off after about five minutes of the same old, same old…questions weren’t answered.

  10. This is all very stupid!! Of course Obama won – you could put a goldfish in as a DemoCrap and he would have the popular win vote. Americans want change and the change wil be a switch from conservative to liberal. It doesn’t matter at this point. Americans can’t see beyond the tip of their noses unless it’s happening within the last 24hrs. After 911 it was all patriotic hype; lets get the bad guys. Now, it’s lets get the conservatives for going after the bad guys. Americans, in general, will never be satisfied or satiated in the long haul. After Obama is elected the change everyone was expecting won’t happen soon enough for everyone to be satisfied with his performance and the atmosphere will change once again. No new administration can make significant change in one term and since Americans are so impatient for immediate change, Obama will significantly disappoint the majority of the voters who selected him. The Republicans will shout “I told you so” and they will be right. The DemoCrapic controlled Congress will continue to posture itself for self gratification and no one will emerge as a winner for America. So go ahead and declare the liberal the debate winner and remember, be carefull for what you wish for. The change that is promised may be all you have left in your pocket.

  11. Right now, Drudge has it:

    McCain – 66%
    Obama – 30%

  12. I have to wonder at the mindset of anyone who, after months of listening to the candidates, and AT THIS LATE DATE still is undecided. They remind me of someone who keeps a waitress waiting at the table forever because he won’t make a decision. Maybe they’re hoping for a lightning strike or a thunderous voice from heaven. Can it be that they’re in agony over knowing that the guy they’d like to vote for really isn’t the one for the job ? More likely is it that they want to be in the critical position of having THEIR vote be the one that does the trick. How would you like to have one of these wimps at the helm in any kind of crisis ?

    henry landis (ac700d)

  13. Frem, looking at politicians and their love/hate- filled constituents with hair triggers with such a realistic eye is a refreshing comment. Well stated. Clap-clap-clap. Although, I would take issue with the goldfish…that would make it a ‘DemoCarp’. Maybe a seahorse would better fit the DemoCrap construct.

Regardless, I agree with your breakdown on the MSP, ie, Main Stream Public. Call it poli-swapping without the sex. With some glaring exceptions, of course, on that sex part.

    allan (b0101a)

  14. Maybe it’s too complicated for Repugnicans to understand. Let me spell it out for them: The GOP has had complete control for almost eight years. The Dems had ZERO ability to prevent the debacle caused by Cheney-Bush. You don’t hire an arsonist to undo the damage he caused. Case closed !

    henry landis (ac700d)

  15. #11 Ropelight-
I figure all the polls are skewed. Too many people who are de facto racists are afraid to admit and tell pollsters that The One is the one.
We really need to unite as a country and stop the racism. The world is looking at us. Why can’t we emulate the loving people of the UN and Euroweenie set? Lots of minorities running European governments and Koffi Annan was probably the best UN Sec/General ever. He did a wonderful job ameliorating Muslim hatred of the Jooos and providing tenderness and protection to children and various refugees in trouble spots such as Rwanda and the Sudan. No genocides allowed there, in any case.
Let’s all get behind Obama and sing Kumbaya. Feck the military mindset of gigolo McCain and go forth with a man of Peace who will be the second coming of Abe Lincoln and probbaly the greatest orator this nation has ever had. Can anyone doubt that the rich will finally get their comeuppance and regular folks will start living the American Dream? Don’t forget that McCain cheated on his wife with his current mistress wife, was part and parcel and probably the prime mover in the Keating Five scandal, gave up military secrets to the Viet Cong, can’t even remember how many homes he has, probably cheated with that blonde lobbyist as the NY Times alleges, may well be the father of Palin’s pregnant daugher and even of Trig and even has a black daughter whom he sired.
Obama will solve all our problems in tandem with a super dem majority in Congress with his intellectual acumen and empathy for the common citizen. And he has the constitutional genius of Joe Biden to back him up.
At last we will throw off the chains of Republican malfeasance. Can’t wait to see Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld frog marched into a world court and, hopefully incarcerated for the rest of their natural lives. And I hope their vast oil fortunes are seized also.
All Hail Barack! Wouldn’t it be nice if he were our leader for at least 30 years?

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  16. 14 you are so full of shit. Libs have had congress for the past two years and prior to that had threats of filibusters to prevent even many judges being appointed. They cried racism to stymie any efforts to rein in the toxic loan scams. Pelosi and Reid promised energy prices would tumble. Oh and the most ethical Congress ever? jajaja.

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  17. Why is McCain stating that he would add $300 billion dollars to bail out the home owners at risk of foreclosure?
Obama seemed to know that aiding those facing foreclosure was already included in the bail-out bill that was passed last Friday. Didn’t McCain read the bill? He is making it sound like it was his idea; it isn’t new?

    Patricia (0fbad4)

  18. Obama looked like a male model. A true poser.

McCain won on foreign policy and the economy — cut spending; if we’re going to bail out the fat cats, then bail out homeowners too.

McCain’s health care — say what?

He should have hit harder on Fannie, Freddie, Ayers, Wright, elitism, and liberalism.

John McCain: “I believe in this country”.

Barack Obama will only short-change the country.

    LynZee (6afa35)

  19. Are you all for real. I’ve read all of these comments and not one of you mentioned the fact that the man that was behind 9-11 is from the same decentas the man who wants to lead this country. Apparently all you Obama supporters love to be slapped in the face. Do you remember?

    1. 1968 Bobby Kennedy was shot and killed by a Muslim male extremist.

    2. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by Muslim male extremists.

    3. In 1979, the US embassy in Iran was taken over by Muslim male extremists.

    4. During the 1980’s a number of Americans were kidnapped in Lebanon by Muslim male extremists.

    5. In 1983, the US Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by Muslim male extremists.

    6. In 1985 the cruise ship Achille Lauro was hijacked and a 70 year old American passenger was murdered and thrown overboard in his wheelchair by Muslim male extremists.

    7. In 1985 TWA flight 847 was hijacked at Athens , and a US Navy diver trying to rescue passengers was murdered by Muslim male extremists.

    8. In 1988 , Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by Muslim male extremists.

    9. In 1993 the World Trade Center was bombed the first time by Muslim male extremists.

    10. In 1998, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by Muslim male extremists.

    11. On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked; two were used as missiles to take down the World Trade Centers and of the remaining two, one crashed into the US Pentagon and the other was diverted and crashed by the passengers. Thousands of people were killed by Muslim male extremists.

    12. In 2002 the United States fought a war in Afghanistan against Muslim male extremists.

    13. In 2002 reporter Daniel Pearl was kidnapped and murdered by– you guessed it– Muslim male extremists.

Random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President’s security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winner and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males alone.

According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal….the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, he will destroy everything.
    And Now:
For the award winning Act of Stupidity Of all times the People of America want to elect, to the most Powerful position on the face of the Planet — The Presidency of the United states of America .. A Male of Muslim descent who is the most extremely liberal Senator in Congress (in other words an extremest)and in his 40s.
Have the American People completely lost their Minds, or just their Power of Reason ???
I’m sorry but I refuse to take a chance on the ‘unknown’ candidate Obama…

As the writer of the award winning story’Forrest Gump’so aptly put it,’Stupid Is As Stupid Does’

    Denise (f7be83)

  20. Voice of reason??? I think there is a very obvious reason your little videos aren’t getting the attention you “think” they deserve. The reason is “you do not think”! You’re just spouting the same old, same old that everyone is sick of. Get a life or or at least read the polls. Obama won last night’s debate resoundingly.

    Pat, TX (c404b1)

  21. To Denise: you are absolutely right “Stupid is as Stupid does”….a perfect lable for you. You are so out of sync with reality that even giving credence to your ridiculous message by making this response….well, it makes me feel a little stupid.

    Pat, TX (c404b1)

  22. This thread is kind of … strange.

    JD (5f0e11)

  23. #20: “Spouting?” Sorry, I think for myself. Can you find anything factually inaccurate about my videos? Do you deny that Obama very clearly and explicitly said that he would meet unconditionally with the leaders of Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Syria? Do you deny that Biden denied that Obama had said so, and was wrong? Do you deny that the Constitution makes the Vice President president of the Senate, and that this was discussed at the Constitutional Convention and is not some bizarre notion invented by Cheney?

Do you claim that it’s accurate that we spend more in three weeks in Iraq than we’ve spent in Afghanistan in seven years? Do you claim that it’s accurate that the U.S. and France kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon? Do you think that it’d be great policy to send NATO troops into southern Lebanon? Do you think it’s true that both Biden and Obama advocated such an insane policy?

Joe Biden stood up in front of seventy million people and lectured them on the Constitution… and he was wrong. Anybody with the bad judgment as to accept Joe Biden as an authoritative source was misled and misinformed by him. He should correct himself and apologize.

Joe Biden is a liar or delusional or (most likely) both. Sarah Palin is not ready to be President. Joe Biden is not fit to be President. One of these deficiencies can be corrected, while one cannot. Joe Biden should not be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, and that Obama would put him there is yet another example of his poor judgment.

    Voice of Reason (f764a1)

  24. VOR,

I apologize for the rhetoric of my fellow Texan, Pat, whoever she or he is.

    JD,

I should have closed comments since it’s a poll but I don’t like to close comments. On the other hand, weird things can be revealing.

  25. #19 — so, you apparently believe a man and his family who have attended their CHRISTIAN church for 20 years is a Muslim — I get it. Careful now, though, because your racism is showing (either that or your atheism) And here’s why Rev Wright hasn’t been brought up again (yet): It’s nearly impossible to accuse a man of being a Muslim terrorist at the same time he is denigrated for his TWENTY year relationship with his (Christian) pastor (but I’m sure they’ll find a way).

    KK (d6e7d6)

  26. KK – Are you arguing with the voices in your head. Barack Hussein Obama is a Christian, a once proud congregant of Rev. Jeremiah Wright TUCC, before he threw them under the back of the bus.

    JD (f7900a)

  27. #19 – Anywhere in The Book of Revelations mention anything about BUSH?

    Victor (832ad6)

  28. Ooh yes yes Denise. A Muslim. The prophesy already knew that this religion called Islam would be invented and it’s followers called Muslims. There’s a late chapter where it also declares that the Anti-Christ will be a “scholar of the Ivies” and “born of the land of Donho” he will come to rise in the “city of baby bears that swing bats and lose to those who Dodge.” As Kent Brockman yells into the camera, “IT’S IN REVELATIONS PEOPLE!!!”

    Jack Klompus (cf3660)

  29. Of course Obama was the winner on last night debate.
I am a working middle class and my health insurance suck.
I was an undecided voter, but after watching the debate last night, clearly made me choose Obama. 2 debates and I haven’t heard anything about the middle class from McCain.

    Victor (832ad6)

  30. Trollbot. I really want to believe you, Victor. I really do. But I feel, at a gut level, that you are lying to us.

    JD (f7900a)

  31. “Of course Obama was the winner on last night debate.
I am a working middle class and my health insurance suck.”

How can anyone who expresses themselves in this manner reach the middle class and have any complaints whatsoever about the society in which they live.

    Jack Klompus (cf3660)

  32. That was a statement from a co-worker who complains about our society everyday. Just want to see the responses.

    Victor (832ad6)

  33. And I call BS on that too, Vic.

    JD (f7900a)

  34. Some say McCain is a war hero. I have a slightly different view of a war hero. A war hero is the guy who lead the men to victory, won the battle, captured the hill, took out the machine gun nests or saved others under fire. To me, a war hero is not the one who got caught. This is not to say that I don’t have admiration for McCain’s tenacity and spirit because he endured war horrors for sure. But do I want a commander in chief as the guy who is still fighting his demons or the guy who was captured? John McCain is not a Washington, Jackson, Grant, or Eisenhower. I don’t put him on the same shelf. To me the war hero label doesn’t stick here, for Presidential purposes.

    Louisiana River Justice (8e9f42)

  35. LRJ – Thank you for your eloquent and moving contribution. Our collective enlightenment has been improved as a result of your efforts. Namaste.

    Shaq (f7900a)

  36. The candidates have a major difference in their leadership styles: McCain tends to say, “Follow me because the other guy can’t get it done” while Obama says, “Follow me because I can get it done.” Ideally, the candidates should say, “Follow me because i will help you get it done” … in any case, of the two of them Obama demonstrates a better leadership mentality
